Choose your own adventure!

If you are looking for a versatile and extremely flexible motif pattern, here's the answer! This darling little motif looks good no matter what yarn or thread or color you use, no matter what you do with it. It can make a purse, a doily, an afghan or a laptop case, just place the motifs together and join!


Materials for doily in picture:
50 yds x 3 colors - metallic crochet thread
steel crochet hook - size 1 (2.75mm)

Motif:
Chain 4, slip stitch to form ring.
Chain 3, 11 dc, slip stitch to 3rd chain at start. Fasten off.
(For doily in image, make 36 silver-cream, 13 gold)

Joining:
Motif 1: Join black (or main color) with sc to any dc.
Chain 3, (sc in next dc, ch 3) 11 times, join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Motif 2 and beyond: Join black with sc to any dc.
(Chain 3, sc in next dc) 9 times.
Chain 1, sc in any ch-3 space on previous motif.
Chain 1, sc in next ch-3 space on current motif.
Chain 1, sc in next ch-3 space on previous motif.
Chain 1, sc in next ch-3 space on current motif.
Chain 3, join with slip stitch to first sc on current motif. Fasten off.

Adjust the number of (chain 3, sc) according to the number of sides of the motif that are connected to other motifs.
