Lucky Hat



Lucky the leprechaun left his green hat on our cutting table one day in his haste to escape!




You will need:
5-8 oz (300y) worsted weight yarn
Crochet hook size I

Techniques:
picot: ch 4, sl st in fourth chain from hook
BLO : back loops only


Crown:
Holding 2 strands of yarn together, ch 4, sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: ch 3, 11 dc in ring, sl st to first. (12 dc)
Rnd 2: ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in next and each dc around, sl st to first. (24)
Rnd 3: ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next, 2 dc in next) around, sl st to first. (36)
Rnd 4: ch 3, dc in next, 2 dc in next, (dc in next 2, 2 dc in next)around, sl st to first. (48)
Rnd 5-9: ch 3, dc in next and each dc around, sl st to first, do not finish off.

Brim:
Rnd 1: ch 1, BLO - sc in same st and next 3 dc, work picot, (sc in next 4, work picot) around, sl st to BLO of first st (12 picots)
Rnd 2: ch 2, working behind picots in BLO, hdc in next 2, 2 hdc in next, (hdc in next 3, 2 hdc in next) around, sl st to first. (60)
Rnd 3: ch 1, sc in both loops of same st and each st around, sl st to first.
Rnd 4: ch 3, dc in next 3, 2 dc in next, (dc in next 4, 2 dc in next) around, sl st to first. (72)
Rnd 5: ch 3, dc in next 4, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next 5, 2 dc in next) around, sl st to first. (84)
Rnd 6: ch 3, dc in next 5, 2 dc in next, (dc in next 6, 2 dc in next) around, sl st to first. finish off.
