Bright Strips Afghan


Mezmerizing bright stripes are sometimes just the thing to warm up your dreary winter's evenings.



You will need:
about 5 oz each of about 6 colors. Total: 27-30 oz.
Crochet hook: size G

Gauge: 1 shell = 2 inches, 10 shell rows - 7 inches

Shell Strip: (Make 8, mix and match colors)
with cc, ch 4,join with sl st to form ring.
Row 1: ch 3, turn, 3 dc in ring, ch 2, 4 dc in ring, ch 3, turn.
Row 2: 3 dc in ch 2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch 2 space, dc in top of turning ch 3, ch 3, turn.
Repeat 2 until 80 shell rows.
Fasten off.

Double crochet edge: (work on both sides of 6 of the shell strips)
Row 1: Join chosen color at top of first ch 3 of first shell row, ch 2, work 2 dc in first sp at side, *3 dc in next sp, repeat from * to last space, work 2 dc in last sp, dc in next dc, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: working through top loop only and taking care not to draw work tightly, sl st in each dc, ending with dc in top of ch 3, ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Skip first sl st, working through top loop only, dc in each sl st, ch 1, turn.
Rows 4 & 5: Repeat rows 2 and 3.
Row 6: Repeat row 2, fasten off.
Join chosen color on opposite side of shell strip, at last shell row. Work above 6 rows on other side.

Double crochet edge: work on one side only of remaining 2 shell strips
On 1 strip, begin at first shell row and work 6 rows as before.
On second strip, begin as last shell row and work as before.
Block panels.

To Join panels: with right sides of 2 panels tog and with first row of shell st at lower edge, overcast the 6 panels tog through top loop of each st from each panel. At each side, join remaining 2 panels.

Border:
Join yarn under ch 3 of first shell row at outer edge. Ch 3 and work from right side.
Row 1: Work 2 dc in same sp with joining, *3 dc in next sp; rep from * to last sp on edge, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in last sp for corner; ch 1, sc in first ch 2 of shell, ch 1, 2 dc under end st of dc row, dc in sl st row; rep from * to joining row, dc in joining; continue in this way on all sides, ending ch 2, 3 dc in same sp as 2 dc at beg of row. Join with sl st to top of ch 3, ch 1 turn.
Row 2: working thru top loop only, sl st in each st and work 3 sc in ch 2 at each of 4 corners, join, ch 1. turn.
Row 3: Working through top loop only, dc in each st, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in chenter st at corners, join. ch 1, turn.
Rows 4 and 6: Same as row 2. Fasten off at end of Row 6.
Row 5: Same as row 3.

Fringe: Wrap fringe colors around 7 inch cardboard. Cut at end. Using 2 strands, single knot fringe in corner then in every 2nd sl st across the ends of the afghan.
Trim even.

Hoppity Pink and Grey Bag


Here's a bag that hopped right into our studio. Much smarter than the average bag!

Blue Ombal





This little yellow and blue hat is thick yet light and will keep you warm in style.







You will need:
2.5 oz (130 yards) – omber
2.5 oz (130 yards) – solid
Crochet hook size F

Techniques used:
Mr = make ring (make a loop, insert hook, yo and pull up a loop, yo and pull through)
Fpdc = front post dc (yo, insert hook from front to back and bring forward around post, yo and pull up a loop, (yo and pull through 2 loops) twice)
Inc = (fpdc, dc) in same stitch
crab stitch = reverse sc (insert hook in previous st, yo, pull up a loop, yo pull through 2 loops)

Snow Couple



This loving couple has lived in winter wonderland for countless happy winters. Because of their smiling eyes and magic smiles they do not age at all!

Approximately 2 balls of 3.5 oz white, 1 oz black chenille, 1 oz red chenille, small quantities of omber, orange and black
Acryllic batting for stuffing.

Techniques used:

Work in continuous rnds; do not join or turn unless otherwise instructed.

HEAD
With white, ch 2.

Rnd 14-16: Increase 6 evenly around each row. (48 at end of Rnd 16)
Fasten off.

SCARF 1:
With ombre, ch 71.
Row 1: dc in second chain and across. (70 st)
Rows 2-4: (fpdc, dc) across.
Fasten off. Cut 12 even pieces for tassels and attach on either side.

Scarf 2:
With ombre, ch 71.
Row 1: sc in second chain and across, 3 sc in last chain. Do not turn.
Row 2: continue in back loops of foundation row, sc across to end, 2 sc in first ch, sl st to first sc.
Row 3: 2 dc in each sc around.
Row 4: 2 dc in each dc around.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Sew in eyes and eye lashes. Stuff nose and sew to head. Stuff head. Stuff hat lightly and sew to head. Stuff arms and sew to body. Stuff body and sew head to body. Tie scarf around neck.
Weave in ends.

Pink Skirt Poncho



This pretty skirt doubles as a poncho for your little one. The pattern is adaptable to fit all sizes.



You will need:
Crochet hook – size k
1 6-8 oz ball of omber worsted weight

Techniques used:

sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet

Skirt Poncho pattern:
Chain to desired length (waist/head measurement) keeping count divisible by 3. Sl st into first chain.

Rnd 1: Ch 5, sk 2 ch, (dc in next, ch 2, sk 2) around, sl st to beg ch 5
Rnd 2: Ch 6, tr in same st, (sk 2 ch, vstitch in next dc), around, sl to 4th ch of ch6.
Rnd 3: Sl st in next ch 2 sp, ch 4, (tr, ch2, 2 tr) in same sp, shell st in next and around. Join to 4th ch of ch4.
Rnd 4: sl in next tr and next ch 2 sp. Ch 4, (tr, ch2, 2 tr) in same sp, shell st in next and around, join to 4th ch of ch 4.

This beautiful filet blouse is a delight for any occasion. The blouse shown in the image is loosely based on the pattern given.



Finished Size 34 (36, 38, 40, 42)" (86.5 [91.5, 96.5, 101.5,106.5] cm) bust circumference.
Dress shown measures 34" (86.5 cm).

Things you need:
Crochet hook, size D/3 (3.25 mm) Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Tapestry needle.

Gauge 1 shell st = 1" (2.5 cm), 12 shell rows = 4" (10 cm)

Waffle Scarves




This was a fun challenge for our design team - figuring out a new stitch from a photograph. It wasn't much of a challenge, but the prize - satisfaction - was paramount!





The pattern given is a basic template upon which to build.

Ch - odd number, to desired length.
Row 1: sc to end.
Row 2: ch3 turn, dc to end.
Row 3: ch3, (fpdc in next stitch, dc in next stitch) to end.
Repeat row 3.

Amigurumi burger



A perfect toy for the average 3 year old (this includes college-bound fruitcakes) that is harmless yet endlessly entertaining.



You will need:
Worsted Weight: Brown, Copper, Green, Pale Gold, Pale Orange, Orchid, Red, Red-violet
Crochet hook F
Tapestry needle, invisible thread, sewing needle

Gauge:
5 rnd gauge circle = 2" (5 cm)

Stitches used:
mr - make ring (make a loop, insert needle, yarnover and pull up a loop, yarnover and pull through)
ch - chain
ch sp - chain space
sc - single crochet
inv dec - invisible decrease (insert hook in front loop only of next st twice, yo and pull through twice)

Materials:
size 3 ombre crochet thread
50 red beads
.9mm crochet hook

Stitches Used:
Chain (ch)
Single crochet (sc)
Slip stitch (sl)
Double crochet (dc)

Ch 42.
Round 1: sc (FLO) in second chain from hook and across. 3 sc in last chain. On back loops of chain, continue sc across to first chain. 2 sc in chain.

Round 2: sc in each sc around (86 sc).

Round 3-8: continue sc in each sc around.

Round 9: *(sc in next sc) 5 times, pull up a bead* Repeat from * to end of round.

Round 10-14: sc in each sc around.

Round 15: Repeat round 9.

Repeat Rounds 2-15 once more.

Sc for another 15 rounds.

Round 18: (Eyelet) Ch 4, skip next sc [sc in sc, ch1, skip next sc] repeat around; join with sl to top of ch 4.

Round 19: Ch 3, sc in ch 1 space [sc in sc, sc in ch 1 space] repeat around; join with sl to top of ch 3. Finish off.
